PHILOSOPHY

For the past 20 years, Bárbara Amalie has found immense joy in sketching, refining solutions, creating atmospheres, and experimenting with materials. But what she cherishes most is getting to know the families she designs for—their way of living, their treasured pieces, and their unique sense of comfort.  For her, it has been a privilege to gain their trust, to be invited into their homes, and to witness their stories, traditions, and emotions that shape their spaces. Through shared meals, conversations, and quiet observations, she has come to understand that interior design is not just about aesthetics—it’s about creating a sense of belonging.

At Bárbara Amalie Studio, each project is approached with a deep understanding of how a space should be lived in for each client, uncovering its full potential. Her design philosophy is deeply rooted in her heritage—on her mother’s side, a blend of Spanish and Portuguese influences instilled in her a love for beautiful, meaningful interiors. She grew up surrounded by a family where every home looked like it belonged in a magazine, where tables were always thoughtfully set with flowers, and where every gathering felt like a scene from AD or Cote Sud.

From a young age, she was immersed in the world of art—spending time in her aunt’s painting studio, taking sketching courses, and later pursuing a degree in Concept Design. She collaborated on a product line for Maison & Objet and worked hands-on in artisan workshops, exploring materials and craftsmanship. On her father’s side, German roots, she developed a deep appreciation for raw, solid materials and the artistry behind handcrafted pieces. Working closely with artisans, she fell in love with the process—transforming materials into objects with soul and purpose.

For her, every project is an opportunity to create not just a space, but a story—one that reflects the people who live in it, honors their past, and enhances their everyday life.
